Here are the answers to the questions running through your mind.
Question — How many exams are there in IAS?
Answer — There are three phases in this exam. There are two papers in the preliminary exam, one GS and one CSAT. After passing the preliminary exam, there is the main exam which consists of 9 papers. In which 2 papers are of language, 4 papers are of general studies, 2 papers are of an optional subject and 1 paper is of essay. After passing the main exam, you are called for interview.
Question – When to start the preparation?
Answer – You can start preparing for civil service in the final year of graduation. If there is a delay due to some reason then no problem! You can start preparing anytime but you must be determined and ready to give your best!
Question – Which medium to choose?
Answer – Choose the medium in which you can give your best. Do not go by the pillow talk of people. Every year candidates of Hindi medium are also successful. Therefore, try to improve the writing style in Hindi continuously!
प्रश्न — आईएएस में कितनी परीक्षाएं होती हैं ?
उतर — इस परीक्षा में तीन चरण होते हैं ! प्रारंभिक परीक्षा में दो पेपर होते हैं , एक GS और एक CSAT ! प्रारंभिक परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने के पश्चात् मुख्य परीक्षा होती है जिसमें 9 पेपर होते हैं ! जिसमें 2 पेपर भाषा के , 4 पेपर सामान्य अध्ययन के , 2 पेपर एक वैकल्पिक विषय के और 1 पेपर निबंध का होता है ! मुख्य परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने के पश्चात् इंटरव्यू या साक्षात्कार के लिए बुलाया जाता है !
प्रश्न – तैयारी की शुरुआत कब करें ?
उत्तर – सिविल सेवा की तैयारी आप ग्रेजुएशन के अंतिम वर्ष में शुरू कर सकते हैं । अगर किसी कारण से बिलम्ब हो गया है तो कोई बात नहीं ! आप कभी भी तैयारी शुरू कर सकते हैं अपितु आप दृढ़संकल्पित और अपना सर्वोत्तम देने के लिए तत्पर हों !
प्रश्न – किस माध्यम का चुनाव करें ?
उत्तर – माध्यम वही चुने जिसमे आप अपना सर्वोत्तम दे सके ।। लोगो की तकियानुसी बातों पर न जाएँ । हर वर्ष हिंदी माध्यम के भी अभ्यर्थी सफल होते हैं । अतः हिंदी में लेखन शैली को लगातार बेहतर बनाने का प्रयास करे !
प्रश्न – क्या आईएएस और आईपीएस के लिए अलग अलग परीक्षाएं होती हैं ?
उत्तर – नहीं ! संघ लोक सेवा आयोग वर्ष में एक बार कॉमन परीक्षा आयोजित करता है जिसमें सफलता के बाद प्राप्त रैंकों के आधार पर आपको IAS , IPS ,IFS और IRS जैसी सेवाओं में भेजा जाता है !
प्रश्न – क्या कोचिंग लेना अनिवार्य है ? ।
उत्तर – बिल्कुल नहीं ! ।।माना कोचिंग आपका काम आसान करती है लेकिन किसी भी शास्त्र में यह नहीं लिखा कि बिना कोचिंग के अभ्यर्थी सफल नहीं होते ।।।हर वर्ष का रिजल्ट बताता है कि 100 + अभ्यर्थी बिना कोचिंग के सफल हो रहे हैं ।!
प्रश्न – तैयारी के लिए कितना समय पर्याप्त है ?
उत्तर – अगर आप अभी शुरुआत करना चाहते हैं तो आपकी तैयारी के लिए 18 माह पर्याप्त होंगे ! शुरुआत के 3 माह में NCERT को ठीक से तैयार कर लीजिये । इसके बाद 12 माह आपकी विषयानुसार तैयारी के लिए ।।और अंतिम 3 माह मॉक टेस्ट और रिवीजन के लिए रखिये !
प्रश्न – ऑप्शनल पेपर का चुनाव कैसे करें ?
उत्तर – बहुत से छात्रों कि यह दुविधा होती है कि वैकल्पिक पेपर कौन सा चुने ? । हमारी उनको विशेष सलाह है कि वैकल्पिक पेपर के चुनाव के समय आप सिर्फ अपनी रूचि का ध्यान रखिये । किसी की सलाह का नहीं ! अक्सर छात्र सफल अभ्यर्थियों के इंटरव्यू पढ़कर उनके विषय को ही अपना वैकल्पिक बना लेते हैं ।।।यह घातक हो सकता है क्योंकि जरुरी नहीं कि जिस विषय में वे सुलभ हो उसे आप भी उसी तरह अपना पाएं ।सबकी अपनी अलग अलग रूचि होती है किसी को भूगोल बड़ी आसान लगती है और बहुत से ऐसे भी हैं जिन्हे भूगोल से बड़ा डर लगता है !! हर ऑप्शनल पेपर से अभ्यर्थी सफल हुए हैं । और हम खुद यह बिल्कुल नहीं मानते कि कोई विषय कम या ज्यादा स्कोरिंग होता है । यह आपकी लेखन शैली पर निर्भर करता है कि आप कितनी हद तक निरीक्षक को प्रभावित कर पाते हैं !

Question – Are there separate exams for IAS and IPS?
not answer ! The Union Public Service Commission conducts a common examination once a year, in which you are sent to services like IAS, IPS, IFS and IRS on the basis of the ranks obtained after success.
Question – Is it mandatory to take coaching? ,
Answer – Not at all! .. Agreed that coaching makes your work easy but it is not written in any scripture that without coaching candidates are not successful.. Every year result tells that 100+ candidates are getting successful without coaching.!
Question – How much time is sufficient for preparation?
Answer – If you want to start now then 18 months will be enough for your preparation. Prepare NCERT properly in the first 3 months. After this 12 months for your subject wise preparation. And keep the last 3 months for mock test and revision.
Question – How to choose the optional paper?
Answer – Many students have a dilemma that which optional paper to choose? , We have a special advice to them that while choosing the optional paper, you should take care of your interest only. Not of anyone’s advice! Often students read the interviews of successful candidates and make their subject optional. This can be fatal because it is not necessary that you should adopt the same subject in which they are accessible. Everyone has different interests. Some people find geography very easy and there are many who are very scared of geography. Candidates have been successful in every optional paper. And we ourselves do not believe that any subject is more or less scoring. It depends on your writing style to what extent you can impress the invigilator.
